Karpathos (griechisch Κάρπαθος, Karpathos, auf Italienisch, Scarpanto) ist ein Mitglied des Dodekanes-Archipels im Ägäischen Meer, gelegen zwischen Kreta und der griechischen Insel Rhodos. Es ist Teil der peripheren Einheit von Karpathos, in der Nähe von Kasos. Die Stadt Pigadia wurde am Ende eines vier Kilometer langen Sandstrandes erbaut. Es gibt Überreste einer christlichen Basilika, die der Agia Fotini gewidmet ist. Homer erwähnte Karpathos im Schiffskatalog in der Ilias, wo die Flamme "Crápatos"
